• Taking charge in meetings: When meetings are taking place with your boss, take charge of the conversation. Go in there with an agenda and turn your career into a topic of conversation.
• Be proactive about getting things done. Instead of waiting for assignments, get a head start on things that will be needed.
• Read what others in your field are saying. If you start reading what others in your field are saying, it’ll  increase your knowledge.
• Start writing books. Write books about your knowledge in your field. This will position you as a subject matter expert.
