When you’re sick and tired of being strapped with a mortgage payment, it’s time to show it some tough love. That means hunkering down and getting that sucker out of your hair forever. It may take a little sacrifice, and bootstrapping, but if you commit, you’ll be much happier 3 to 5 years down the road when you’re no longer working just to keep a roof over your head.

Some ways to bootstrap is to take every windfall of money and use it towards the principal. That could include a bonus check, a raise, or other monetary gift. Another way to pay it off faster is to get a second job. I know it may not seem ideal, but you can get a side hustle, or find some work you can do online, or even sell stuff to make the extra money.  If you commit, you’ll be a lot happier knowing you’re debt free.
